Description of Minimum Scores in Iraqi Universities

The minimum scores for admission to Iraqi universities are official indicators adopted annually by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to determine the minimum grade point average a student can achieve in a particular major at public universities. These scores are usually announced in December after the central admissions process is completed. They are directly dependent on the results of the sixth-grade exams and the number of seats available in each college.

The minimum scores vary from year to year depending on several factors, including:

Success rates and the number of applicants.

The capacity of each university and major.

Students' preferences and choices in the central admissions application.

The minimum scores are divided according to academic streams:

Scientific stream (biological and applied)

Literary stream

Vocational stream (industrial, commercial, agricultural, etc.)

The minimum scores are used as a reference for students to determine the majors they can apply for. They are also an important tool in assessing the level of competition for medical, engineering, humanities, and other colleges.

The minimum grades table is officially published on the Ministry's website and is available for review by students, middle schools, and guidance centers, helping students with academic planning for the coming years.
