About the department

The department aims to be innovative, pioneering, and effective in preparing national cadres specialized in cybersecurity, providing the Iraqi labor market with highly qualified personnel in the field of cybersecurity engineering and cloud computing technologies, and contributing to the development and service of the local community by providing scientific and technical consultations in the field of cybersecurity and infrastructure to IT departments in various government sectors. The department also aims to design and build scalable, secure, and reliable security systems, in addition to working on data center and network systems and helping organizations understand advanced cyber threats and develop strategies to protect their networks.

Preparing distinguished technical engineers with high proficiency in technical, organizational, and administrative means to protect computers, networks, and data from cyber attacks. We also strive to stimulate students' academic capabilities by linking the theoretical foundations with the practical aspects of the programs, in accordance with the internationally recognized standards for the specialty. This will enable them to meet the needs of the government, mixed, and private labor markets, in addition to building and developing cooperative relationships with all engineering and technical entities, both locally and internationally.

Preparing engineering cadres with a high level of understanding, knowledge, and academic and technical preparation, combining engineering vision, artistic creativity, scientific skills, and quality implementation in the field of cybersecurity engineering and cloud computing technologies.


Preparing cadres responsible for building, designing, and protecting IT systems in organizations to prevent data breaches and protect them from hackers, viruses, and various security issues, and supervising the structure of various types of networks.


Preparing cadres with scientific and technical skills that enable them to handle cloud computing operations, use scanning tools to detect problems, monitor and evaluate security performance, and provide security documentation and emergency solutions.


Preparing cadres capable of analyzing logs and conducting risk assessments in the event of security breaches to identify affected components of the system and sources of threat.


Continuously developing academic programs through collaboration with Arab and international academic institutions to meet the needs of national security programs and the labor market, while providing a modern educational environment.


Continuously training faculty members, technicians, and administrators through seminars, conferences, and workshops within the university or with local and international universities.


Collaborating with other departments to monitor and evaluate the performance of department graduates to ensure their effective contribution to community service after graduation, in accordance with a future vision for expanding community engagement.


Providing technical and academic consultations in the fields of cybersecurity and cloud computing to government and academic entities.


Adopting effective theories to develop the department's capabilities in conducting research and studies and preparing study requirements in accordance with the quality standards of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Community Service, through distinguished graduates capable of keeping pace with developments and respecting professional ethics.
